They say a good domain name can really give you the edge over your competitors, and often in more way than one. In this feature we’ll cover some of the most important things to keep in mind when it comes to choosing your domain name, as one of the first steps in our ‘Where To Start‘ guide to setting up your own Fiverr Script or Microjob style website. We’ll run through this with you, drawing on our own examples to add point of reference.
The first thing to consider is branding, branding is one of the most important methods of marketing as a business and there is a reason why leading companies such as McDonald’s put millions of dollars into new adverts and branded campaigns each and every year. Your domain name becomes your ‘physical address’ so to speak, so should be easily remembered and short and snappy in its nature, this means if a user likes your website they can come back again without having to remember much at all.
A second consideration that goes hand in hand with branding is market research, market research gives you an opportunity to identify gaps in the market which can be exploited. Sometimes you will not be able to get your desired domain name, and if you do find a short highly-targeted domain name then it can often cost a lot more than you are willing to spend, but you can counter-act this with some good in-depth market research and just plain old searching around and thinking of idea’s. Now I don’t want to go off on a tangent, but a quick look at some competitor sites like ‘GigBucks’ can get your creativity flowing enough to come up with your very own take, like a few we’ve picked out below.
Here are a few examples of domain and site names based off a brief amount of research, as you can see it is fairly straight forward to come up with some nice idea’s so we would definitely recommend taking the time here to make sure it is one you can get behind.

As you can see, here’s 5 simple domain name examples that all have a nice ring to them, and whats good about them? None of them have been used yet so if you like the look of them then why not put them to practice? We don’t mind, promise!
Now you may have an idea on what sort of domain you want, but that is just the first step. Many online marketers could sit there and tell you for days on end the different pro’s and con’s of each and every domain registrar out there. But we find it easier to just stick by just one, that being Namecheap, the reason why being that it is both secure and value for money. It has a number of different hosting features available to you as a user, including a full CPANEL and FTP acccess (which can be reduced for other providers).
Other Hosting & Domain options include GoDaddy & Hostgator
